“The exhibition space (more rarely: the exhibition venue) usually refers to large, largely publicly accessible room, in which one or more exhibitions of exhibits take place, which are to be shown to an audience. The exhibition space is a visual framework, a physical component and a spatial limitation of the exhibition. The exhibition space is not neutral in relation to the exhibition, but is in a more or less close correlation. Exhibition spaces, like museums, can be part of the cultural treasure and ‘collective memory’ of a society.”
Focusing on the purpose of the exhibition space, buero_v1 developed the concept of a visual identity for the AStA exhibition space at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Based on the visual framework and aura of the building, a basic visual identity has been developed.
Since the AStA exhibition space is a hub for artists of the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf where they can present their own works, buero_v1 has used self-effacing colors that do not compete with the works of the artists and stand out through the offbeat use of designed typography. In addition to the logo, an extra large exhibition postcard was developed, as well as a screen design for the web presence.
